About
Vanessa's journey into mental health began while attending a master's program in Accra, Ghana where she was enrolled in a social behavior psychology class led by a Ghanian Professor who was very vulnerable about his experience with depression. It was the first time she witnessed an African man be emotionally vulnerable in a public forum. He would later introduce the class to an 80 year old woman who was suffering from severe loneliness. Both of these events had a profound impact on her and inspired her to start Africa’s Health Matters Foundation. She is also the founder of The Seasoned Woman, an initiative focused on preparing a generation of women to love themselves, God, and humanity. She holds a BSc in Exercise Health Science from the University of Massachusetts and a master’s degree in global public health from New York University.
